February 25, 2010Dear: On Saturday, May 1st, I have decided to partner with the American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter in the 7th annual People Helping People Walk-a-thon by serving as a committee member along with the event’s Honorary Chair, Gloria Noto. We need your help to make this event a huge success. The event takes on great importance to our Chapter and our communities as the proceeds benefit disaster services. The Southern Shore Chapter put a total or $120,000 in the hands of nearly 800 disaster victims in the past year. The American Red Cross staff and volunteers assisted those displaced individuals with temporary shelter, food, clothing and comfort kits. Those dollars went right back into the community as fire victims purchased the items they needed the most. The goal of the walkathon is to raise $25,000 in sponsorships and donations to support the Disaster Relief efforts and other services that the American Red Cross provides locally. This is a unique fund-raiser and the whole Cumberland County community can get involved. With our volunteer commitment and our financial support, we can reach our goal. I would like to challenge all my friends to join me in this partnership and provide a pledge in support of these efforts. Also consider getting your own personal team of walkers to participate. Please make a donation to the American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter and participate in the walkathon. The Walk-a-thon is your opportunity to ensure that funds are available when disaster strikes Cumberland County residents – your friends and neighbors. Please review the attached pledge form, and choose to be part of this important event. We can’t do it without you!
